Inshore Species

Roosterfish

Big roosterfish. Lots of roosterfish. The sight of that crest knifing behind a popper will stick with you forever.

Roosterfish are majestic creatures. A member of the jack family, they fight hard and are a whole lot of fun to catch — and for many anglers, checking one off the bucket list is the entire reason they come to fish with us.

We target roosterfish around islands, submerged rocks and high spots. We catch some of our biggest fish trolling live bonito, and lots of them on live blue runners and goggle-eyes. It's also a phenomenal place to throw poppers at them — topwater eats from a big rooster are as good as inshore fishing gets.

Any day you catch a roosterfish is a good day, no matter how you catch it. We release every roosterfish we land.
