Types of Fishing
Inshore vs. offshore
Two world-class fisheries — and the rare ability to fish both in the same day.

Inshore
One of the best inshore fisheries in the world.
In size, action and diversity, the Gulf of Chiriquí is home to one of the best inshore fisheries anywhere. With hundreds of islands and incredible bottom structure, you can do it all. This is one of the best places on earth to catch big roosterfish and cubera snapper — and one of the best places to catch lots of them.
Those are the headliners, but there's much more: mullet snapper, bluefin trevally, sierra mackerel, amberjack, rock snapper, grouper and all manner of jacks. We even catch wahoo inshore sometimes. Our boats carry a variety of tackle for it — we'll troll live bonito on 50-pound conventional gear for big snapper and roosters, drift bonito chunks over high spots for cubera, bump-troll blue runners and goggle eyes on lighter tackle, cast poppers and stick baits on spinning gear, drop vertical jigs on structure, and break out the fly rod if you're so inclined.

Offshore
A world-class offshore fishery.
Consider: in size and number, this is one of the world's best yellowfin tuna destinations, and one of the top black marlin fisheries in the Northern Hemisphere. We catch good numbers of blue marlin, sailfish, dorado and wahoo too.
The fishing is this good in part because the Gulf itself is so productive — the bait and sheer amount of life support an incredible diversity of opportunity. The deep, clear open ocean is the home of the blue marlin; underwater structure and high spots are the haunt of the black. The Gulf has both, in spades, and they're close enough together that we can fish them all on the same trip.
The best part
Fish inshore and offshore in the same day.
In many regions, the inshore grounds and the offshore grounds are separated by 50 miles or more. Here, because of the incredible bottom structure and the many islands that rise straight from the depths, a single day might include time on marlin, tuna, and roosterfish or snapper.
This is a really great feature of the fishing here — one that simply isn't available in most other places.
